THE SS EDMUND FITZGERALD – A STRANGE ENCOUNTER

On Sunday, January 31st at 2 PM at the LaGrange Park Library follow the journey of  Jack and Diane Doyle as little by little with much luck and many unexplained coincidences they discover many compelling details surrounding the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald prompting them to dig further into the haunting tale of a Lake Superior tragedy.

Stacia Novy started working at Wolf Road Prairie when she was in grade school and continued working here for over 35 years.  Even when she was serving our nation in the military she would return to give talks on birds and to fly her falcons to the enjoyment of many.  John Banasxak, a long time director on the Society board, was her junior high school biology teacher.  Stacia has written of her experiences with birds and how they enhanced her life.  The article can be found under Articles under the Resources menu.

Bats: Masters of the Sky

Cook County Forest Preserve’s naturalist Sara Rose will begiving a program on bats.  Bring a friend and bring your questions.

Prairie Heritage Celebration A Success

The Prairie Heritage Celebration — the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Save The Prairie Society — was our September 19 special event from 10 AM to 2 PM.  Activities on the Prairie House grounds included:fid yel flowers-r

1. At 10:00 AM Big Run Wolf Ranch will be bringing a  wolf, coyote, porcupine, and skunk  Big Run Wolf Ranch is a non-profit, federally licensed, educational facility which specializes in the education and conservation of North American wildlife.  You can see more about them at http://www.bigrunwolfranch.org/ .
2. Food – hot dogs, brats, and cold drinks.

Walk of Discovery
