(8) The Prairie Divide

The prairie is divided into the north 40 acres and south 40 acres. The south 40 acres, which you have journeyed through, feature savanna and black soil prairie. As you turn eastward at the corner, the prairie soils change. They become more hydric (wetter) and support different vegetation.
