Little bluestem

In early summer bunches of little bluestem give the prairie an ornamental look.

Blades fan out reaching a height of 2-3 feet.



By fall, when the stalks are tall and in seed, light reflects on their feathery softness.


As fall comes to the prairie, the green of summer is replaced by the subtle tones of flax and pale magenta.
