How can I get to Wolf Road Prairie?

Can I hike at Wolf Road Prairie?  Does it have trails?

Yes!  There are two ways to hike at Wolf Road Prairie–from the north or from the south.

At the northern end of Wolf Road Prairie near the Historic Prairie House, a natural trail leads through the Wetlands portion of Wolf Road Prairie.

At the southern end, you will find a kiosk and sidewalks that go through the savanna and mesic portions of the Prairie.  These sidewalks set down right before the Great Depression act as trails.

Both entrances and trail paths are considered rough.

What should I wear?

The trail paths at Wolf Road Prairie are rough and narrow.  While perfectly hike-able, it is advisable to wear long pants and long sleeve shirts.  During spring, summer, and the early part of fall, you may want to use bug repellant and sunscreen as well.

Can I bike/skateboard/roller skate/etc on Wolf Road Prairie?

Only hiking on foot is allowed on Wolf Road Prairie.

Are children allowed on Wolf Road Prairie?

Children are allowed to hike the trails with adult supervision.  If you have a group larger than 10, please contact STPS.

Are pets allowed on the trails?

No pets are allowed on Wolf Road Prairie.

Can I visit the Prairie House?

Yes!  When visiting Wolf Road Prairie, feel free to visit the Historic Prairie House and relax on the deck that has a wonderful view of the Prairie.
