The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: How to evaluate and improve natural areas.

Presenter: Jack Shouba is one of the founders of Save The Prairie Society. Since retiring from a career in teaching biology and chemistry at Lyons Township High School, he has taught botany and photography at The Morton Arboretum, and he is Open Space Development Coordinator for Campton Township’s open space program in Kane County.

Jack will discuss how to research and evaluate a site, which plants need to be controlled, which are weedy and which are characteristic of a high quality natural area.  His photographs illustrate native and non-native plants as well as a range of plants from weedy ones to those found only in high quality remnant communities.

This event is free and  will take place at the LaGrange Park Library – 555 N LaGrange Road.
